Cord Shiflet
Cord Shiflet was born and raised in Westlake. His father, David Shiflet, is a local architect who built their family's first home on Jousting Lane (in the original part of Lost Creek) in 1974. David designed many of the finest homes in and around Westlake and greater Austin, establishing his firm on the corner of "Main and Main" (now Bee Caves Road and Westlake Drive). He joined the Austin Country Club in 1983, and Barton Creek Country Club when it opened in 1987.
Cord likes to say "where you grew up matters" and realizes how fortunate he was to grow up in such a special place. He learned to drive on Bee Caves Road and spent weekends camping, fishing, shooting, and inner tubing in Barton Creek. Cord's mother became a realtor in 1987, and he read her MLS (a paperback at that time!) more than his history book. After she stopped working, Cord launched his career by selling singer-songwriter legend Larry Gatlin's home. Real estate and family-run businesses are in Cord's DNA.
Cord has lived in or around Westlake his entire life - so to say he knows it like the "back of his hand" is an understatement. Cord and his wife Anne have built strong Westlake roots, too, raising 4 kids in local schools (Riverbend Christian School, Bridge Point Elementary, Hill Country Middle School, and Westlake High School). When you're looking to buy or sell a Westlake home with Cord, you're getting much more than a transaction partner - you're getting a connection to Westlake history and to many of the people who have made Westlake one of the most beloved places to live and raise a family in the state of Texas.
